Google Plugs Google Web ToolKit For iPhone

Google has plugged the Google Web ToolKit demonstrating an iPhone specific version of Google Reader.The iPhone Reader combines the Google AJAX Feed API with a user interface geared for use on the iPhone. Google’s Research Actualization Engineer Bob Vawter said that the primary take-away from this project is to say,

”The Google Web Toolkit can be used to create applications that, in the same code base, work well on an iPhone and a traditional desktop browser.”

Facebook + iPhone = UltraCool

A pairing of the two most hyped tech products of the year: Facebook released what is arguably the single best iPhone-customized website to date at iphone.facebook.com. Like the Netvibes iPhone site recently launch, it isn’t much to look at in a normal browser. But open that thing up in an iPhone and you’ve got a very usable site.

3G iPhone In the Works - Mac Forums

Though obvious, several sites are reporting on comments by Steve Jobs that a 3G iPhone is coming from Apple. PocketLint specifically claims that Jobs said “You can expect a 3G iPhone later next year”, however, Engadget’s reporting was a bit less definitive:

Quote: Our phone has a talk time of 8 hours and that’s really important when you want to use your phone for internet and music. 3G needs to get back up to 5+ hours, something we think well see later next year.

Meanwhile, The Street claims that a 3G iPhone will be available sometime in the 1st quarter of 2008… but their historical accuracy has been quite poor.Regardless, the fact that Apple is working on a 3G iPhone is not particularly newsworthy. Steve Jobs stated during the iPhone’s Macworld San Francisco 2007 keynote that they are planning on making “3g phones and all sorts of other amazing things in the future” (video clip .mov 1.7mb)Article Link

Boot Windows on a Mac!

So I have held off even looking at the new Intel macs partially because I know if I play with it, I will want one, but also because most of the professional graphics software isn’t where it needs to be yet. But since I do use both platforms on a regular basis, the ability to put Windows on the Mac, and the fact that you can switch back and forth with just a few clicks and restart, as announced today by Apple, makes the Intel Mac very tempting. iPods from a Vending Machine

The coolest thing (besides the big annoucements) I have heard of from MacWorld was the iPod vending machine. Apparently there was just that at the Argent Hotel during the MacWorld Expo. The ZoomShop vending machine was full of shuffles, nanos, and video iPods, even iPod accessories. Something for your every whim right at the push of a button (& your credit card).

Google and Apple named “Most Influential” in 2005

According to a poll conducted by Brandchannel, Google, with Apple in a close second place finish, are the most influential brands of 2005. Apple has earned this distinction twice, while Google has been honored three times, in as many years. Finishing out the top five this year are Skype, Starbucks and Ikea.
